Rituals of Winter

Article By Sahara .

Winter has its own rituals. Long Sunday walks, cosy evenings by the fire, the welcome of a Christmas wreath and the pleasure of gathering with friends as the days grow shorter. Our new collection captures the spirit of the season through layers of warmth, tactile textures and a richness of colour that brings a sense of occasion to winter dressing.

The palette takes its cue from an opulent Christmas, balanced by the grounding calm of the natural world. Vivid accents of magenta and cobalt bring a fresh intensity to deep plums and burgundies, creating a colour story with depth, contrast and a hint of after-dark romance.

BEYOND THE SURFACE

Soft organic cotton cord brings a fine ribbed texture to the screen printed Layered Geometric print. Merino wool appears in substantial ribbed knits, while Italian bouclé brings a denser, more irregular surface. Elsewhere, pocket jersey is produced on heritage machinery to create its distinctive raised, almost waffle-like texture, giving a plain fabric enough structure to hold its own without print.

The Melange Patchwork Wool Coat takes a similarly considered approach. Its grey surface is broken by contrasting sections and carefully bound seams, turning the construction itself into part of the pattern. Jacquard knitwear moves in another direction again, blending merino wool and brushed alpaca into lace-like motifs with softened edges.

These differences matter in winter. A rib, pile, crinkle, or brushed yarn changes how a piece sits alongside the next, so even a simple combination of knit, trouser, coat, and scarf has plenty happening within it.

THE POETRY OF PRINT

Our Moontide print brings terracotta, coral, blue, and inky violet together across lustrous silk, with the soft diffusion and fluidity of watercolour. Layered Geometric is much more controlled, its intersecting lines printed onto fine cotton cord. Winter Garden and Cosmic Peony take florals into darker territory on jersey, while the next iteration of our much-loved Pixelated Floral breaks blooms into blocks of brilliant colour across fluid viscose.

Then there is velvet. Midnight Peonies sinks its flowers into a dark velvet ground, where the pile gives the colours a shadowed quality. Silk Velvet Floral Devore has still more variation, with areas of transparency interrupting the richer velvet pile. The effect comes from the cloth as much as the motif.

THE PLEASURE OF LAYERING

A black merino turtleneck sharpens the blue and violet of a Layered Geometric cord skirt. A boiled wool cocoon jacket sits over fluid crepe trousers. Long bouclé knitwear is softened further with a crushed wool scarf, while Space Dye Jacquard brings broken flashes of jewel colour beneath a dark ribbed knit.

Proportion remains recognisably Sahara. Bubble trousers and dresses have volume lower down, relaxed tops skim rather than cling, and cowl necks allow heavier fabrics to fold and drape. Long-line shirts, generous knitwear, and full-length dresses leave plenty of room for another layer.

The interest comes from mixing weight with fluidity. Fine merino against cord. Bouclé over crepe. A structured wool coat over something softer beneath. Winter gives those contrasts room to work.

A LITTLE MORE CEREMONY

Lurex thread runs through cotton check, catching in fine lines rather than covering the cloth in shine. Velvet jersey brings depth to familiar Sahara shapes, while silk velvet devoré has a more decadent character.

There is no hard divide between clothes for ordinary winter days and those saved for an occasion. A bright boiled-wool jacket has enough presence for dinner. Velvet can be worn with a simple trouser. A sparkling shoe changes the mood of a crinkled jersey top. The pleasure is in deciding how far to take it, and when.

EFFORTLESS LAYERING & CURATED COLLABORATIONS

Winter styling calls for intuitive versatility. Designed to layer effortlessly with past favourites or combine in unexpected ways, these garments transition seamlessly from relaxed daytime wear to evening gatherings.

To complete every look, our curated accessories highlight exceptional global craftsmanship. Pair wide-leg trousers or bubble dresses with statement boots by Lofina, sequined velvet Mary Janes by Flabelus, or hybrid sneakers by Flower Mountain, where Japanese design sensibility meets Italian shoemaking expertise. Dramatic flair comes courtesy of hand-crafted jewellery from Samuel Coraux, Nataraj Collection, and Etnika.
