A host of golden daffodils. Swathes of grape hyacinths. Brave crocuses peering out to see if the frost has gone. Let’s face it; a patch of blue sky would be a welcome relief from this winter drab that envelops us like an almighty festive hangover. Don’t despair, though, the colour will come and in the wonderful world of Sahara it’s already starting to appear with lots more to come as the new season unfolds.

The great news is, there’s plenty of colour to cheer our weary wardrobes. Not that we need lots of colour and we’re certainly not a champion of colour-clash look-at-me fashion – we’re more than happy in a subdued palette with occasional brights – but subtle introductions of beautiful new shades can work wonders in updating a slightly malnourished, under-hued wardrobe. Spirits lift surprisingly quickly.
What colours are coming your way?
Well, there will be blues, as we discuss elsewhere. Indigo blues. Cornflower blues. Forgiving blues. Expect some crisp whites to freshen them up, like snowdrops in sunshine, with acid greens reminding us that the much-missed foliage is just biding its time.
In a few weeks the predominant chambray blues of early Spring 17 will morph into stunning aquas with lipstick brights pouting through – all of it anchored by mushroom (foraged of course) and a new take on black and white.
Then the high-colour diet really begins with hot hues of papaya, citrus yellow, painterly prints, striking stripes and tie-dye chiffons for special occasions. You heard it here first!
