Blueberry Superfood Smoothie

Whether you’re looking to start the year off on a healthier note, or simply in need of some breakfast inspiration, we have the perfect superfood smoothie that’s easy to whizz together in no time at all.

This Superfood Blueberry Smoothie is perfect for breakfast or as a snack throughout the day if you’re in need of an energy boost. This recipe includes all things health; from slow energy releasing chia seeds, oats and almond butter, to antioxidant blueberries and flax seeds. Filled with energy, good fats and flavour, this recipe will keep you satisfied for longer.

Serves 1

INGREDIENTS

– 1 ripe banana

– 1/2 a cup of blueberries

– 1/2 a cup of ice cold water

– 1 tablespoon of chia seeds

– 1 tablespoon of flax seeds

– 1 tablespoon of oats

– 1 tablespoon of almond butter

– 2 medjool dates

METHOD

Simply pit the medjool dates, then place all of the ingredients together in a blender and blend until smooth. For a lighter consistency, you can add water or milk at the end and blend further.

We recommend preparing ahead by freezing chopped bananas and blueberries so your smoothie is even easier to make. You can add these to your blender from frozen so you know you’ll never be out of the ingredients you need.

We love smoothies because you can add or substitute ingredients depending on your mood or taste, so feel free to experiment with your favourite fruits and seeds. All of the ingredients can be found at your local health store, major supermarkets or with your online supermarket of choice.
